I have travelled more in 2017 than I ever have in my entire life! And for those following along on my Instagram, you have been able to really be a part of that! The questions I get asked most often have to do with travel, and what certain accessories I carry when travelling, so I figured what better time to put up this post than from my hotel room in Paris! See below for my *must* have travel accessories!
Ostrich Pillow
We all know that sleeping on a plane can be difficult, but with it’s super soft jersey material, and bead-like interior, the Ostrich Pillow makes it so much easier. This O shaped travel pillow lays on top of your eyes and ears, blocking out sound and light, and acts as a rest for the head. I first discovered it’s magic a few years ago when my {now} husband had a medical emergency when travelling. My {now} sister-in-law, Katelyn, had an Ostrich pillow with her and let me borrow it when it became clear I would have to spend the night at the hospital in a chair – It blocked out the beeping machines, the lights from other patients and made my awkward angles comfortable enough for me to get a few hours rest. Ever since that moment, I have sworn by this travel accessory, making it my #1 travel must-have.
Travel Steamer
How many times have we all run the water in the hotel shower on high heat to try and steam wrinkles out of our clothing? Not only did I feel guilty about the massive amount of water waste, but it was also never fully efficient – especially if the fabric was thicker and the wrinkles more stubborn. With my standing steamer at home, I have become so accustomed to removing wrinkles with ease that the sight of even a wrinkle in my t-shirt would irritate me. This travel steamer has made my travel wardrobe look so much more crispy 🙂
Away suitcase/Tile
Away reached out right before my honeymoon last year and asked to send me a set of their suitcases. I had never had a matching set of luggage before and was excited to give them a try – especially since the carry on suitcase comes with a built in charger! I have loved my experience with the suitcases so much, that I have convinced my entire family into buying their own sets. They fit surprisingly more than they look like they would, and the hard exterior shell is sleek and durable. I have used the built in charger so many times, it’s been my favorite feature of the suitcases.
Portable charger
Although my carry-on has a built in charger, I still like to travel with my own portable charger for the times when I’m not with my suitcase. I can’t tell you how many times I have relied on chargers to juice me up when out and about, and the best one I’ve found is this one. It can re-charge your phone up to 100% several times before needing a recharge itself. It’s larger and heavier than the other portable chargers I’ve tried, but for someone who works on their phone, and needs a full battery, it’s worth it to me.
Face Serum / Eye Cream
My face always feels so dry when before & after flying so I make sure to have a little bottle of serum and eye cream {been loving this one} on hand to refresh my face should I need it. Another great option for hydration is facial spray!
Other items I usually travel with are below:
Leak proof travel bottles – the best for traveling if you want to bring your own face wash, shampoo and conditioner! TSA-approved and love that they are reusable. Also, their flat shape makes for easy packing.
Socks – I’m always cold, and there is nothing worse then cold ankles!
Eye mask – Always nice to have in case my husband stays up late reading in our hotel room
Large tote bag
Chapstick – In addition to my face feeling dry when flying, my lips can also dry and crack! Always carry a chapstick with me. I also love this one
Good book – This one speaks for itself 🙂
Large Blanket Scarf – to keep my neck warm, and to act as a blanket need be!
Comfortable clothes – Growing up, my parents never let me wear casual clothes when traveling {they had a very old school belief that people should dress elegantly when travelling} so part of that habit still sticks with me. On long haul flights, I usually wear jeans, and then change into workout clothes or pajamas once settled into my seat so I can try and relax more comfortably!

So funny! We also had to dress nicer for flights growing up- not Sunday best, but not play clothes either!
