When Alexis and I were on our honeymoon, my in-laws helped move us into our house {I know, they’re amazing}. When we got home, and I was touring our beautiful, moved-in home, my sister-in-laws couldn’t stop laughing at for one particular reason. When unpacking my clothing into my new closet, they never realized how much clothing I own that is striped! They couldn’t believe that I had so many striped items that they had to dedicate an entire section of my closet to just stripes! ?
What can I say, I’m such a sucker for stripes! I will generally take them any which way they come – and this striped dress was no exception. I love the gathered sleeves, and the soft, stretchy material felt so nice to wear. I paired it here with this gorgeous faux shearling vest and my favorite over the knee boots. When the weather warms up {and decides to stay warm?} I can easily imagine this dress paired with sandals or wedges and a straw tote for a much more spring-y vibe.
If you follow me on my Instagram, you may have seen via my Insta-story that I quickly flew down to Austin on Wednesday! Alexis had a work meeting there on Wednesday morning, and for Valentines day he surprised me with a ticket so I could go down too and spend the rest of the day with him, eating and drinking our way through the city, ending the night with an incredible dinner at Olamaie. {Side note: We seriously had the best experience there – the manager was the epitome of hospitality and I plan on writing my *first ever* yelp review because of how impressed I was with our service.} Seriously – if you’re ever in Austin, go to Olamaie – the food is incredible, and the service is even better. A few other spots we tried out? Had a drink at Eberly, & Garage – both super cool in design and great cocktails! Garage is literally an old valet coat check room within a parking garage. They did a really great job at making it feel cozy & buzzy – and their ‘Indian Paintbrush’ cocktail was just voted best cocktail in Texas. Def recommend all of the above!
We stayed at the Van Zandt hotel – a large hotel that felt boutique-y. We loved the decor and the location is great {walking distance to 6th street and located right on Rainey street}. We loved it, but would maybe try out Saint Cecilia next time – another trendy boutique hotel heavy on design inspiration. {Can you tell we love a cool design?!}
So excited that today is Friday! Tomorrow we are celebrating my sweet niece’s first birthday and it supposed to be beautiful weather all weekend.
