As I prepare for my big move to Switzerland, I’ve been thinking a lot about which products I want to take with me. From my travels in the past, I’ve tried to make mental notes when I’ve missed a specific item – like my french vanilla creamer in the morning, to regular sized tampons {TMI?}, there have been instances where you just miss what you’re used too! With that being said, I know living in Europe will be such a fun time to discover new products, so I’m trying not to overthink everything & go into this experience with an open mind! Below are a list of items that I will be shipping over, along with a few things I’m excited about trying out 🙂
Things I’m shipping over:
- Advil & Tylenol
- Numerous people have told me that medication in the states is better and/or easier to get, so I’ll be bringing over a few of my must haves!
- Measuring Cups & Spoons
- Another great recommendation! I will be living in a home with a full kitchen, so I imagine I will be cooking quite a bit! I have heard measuring cups with American measurements are notoriously hard to find in Europe, so this will be extremely helpful!
- Tampons
- Tampons in Europe tend to be the really tiny ones without applicators {I prefer these, so I’m bringing a few boxes with me!}
- Toothpaste
- If you’re from New Orleans, then you know about Dr. Tichenors – there is *no* comparison! I can’t live without this. Forget Europe, If I ever run out in Dallas, I make my mom send me more!! {thanks mom!!} 🙂
- Shampoo
- Only bringing 1 small shampoo and 1 conditioner – surely I’ll run out, but I’m excited to try new brands over there too!
- Cold Medicine
- Same as above! See favorites: Dayquil & Nyquil, Mucinex, Sudafed, Affrin, etc.
- Coffee Creamer
- I use 1 of these in my coffee every morning! And with how much studying I’m sure to be doing, I’ll need a stockpile of these to get through my long days
- Peanut butter
- I cannot live without my JIF whips! It’s the best!
- Granola Bars
- I love to grab these when I don’t have time for breakfast, or need a snack in the middle of the day. Filling and not too sweet!
- Make up remover wipes
- I use one of these every night to remove my makeup!
- Oil blotter sheets
- These came as a recommendation from one of you! Wouldn’t have thought about Europe not having them, but I am bringing a few packs for my long days as well 🙂
- School supplies
- No doubt that Europe has fine options, but one of you also recommended bringing my favorite options because the quality is just different in the EU! Noted – i will be bringing a few packs of notecards, my favorite notebooks & pens
- Spices & seasoning
- Tony Chachere’s – if you don’t know, now you do! I put this on everything. SO addicting!
- Nail polish
- Europe obviously carries tons of options, but if you like a certain brand, I would recommend bringing it with you! I love OPI & Essie’s Ballet Slippers {& a quick dry spray I swear by!}
- Sunscreen
- Why is sunscreen always so expensive in Europe?! It always comes in tiny bottles and its sooo $$$! I don’t imagine I’ll be needing a bunch of protection, but I’m going to bring over a tube or two just in case we get a few nice days 🙂
- Vitamins
- Another recommendation! I will be bringing over a daily vitamin to take everyday
- Seasoning Mix
- Ranch Dressing Mix & Taco seasoning – I live in Texas – need I say more?! Besides, along with the Tony Chachere’s, these two things will make making friends a lot easier 😉
Things I’m excited to find & try while over there:
- Any and every face cream & body lotion
- Make up products
- Cheese, condiments {they have the best butters, mustards and mayonnaise!}
Thank you to everyone who sent in recommendations – they have been so helpful! And I hope by sharing all of this, it was helpful for you all as well!
Happy Humpday! xx

I know you will be in French-speaking Switzerland, but if you end up in Germany (it’s not too far away :)), make sure to find a DM–it’s like a German CVS that has everything you need and is pretty cheap!! I always stock up when I’m there!
