Top: Ruffle Sleeve Tee {size XS} // Jeans: Wide Leg Crop Jeans {size 0} // Shoes: Metallic Wavy Sandals
Well, we are thirteen days into our self quarantine/isolated life, and these jeans could not have come at a better time. If you’ve been following me on stories then you probably know that I’ve been wearing jeans most days even though I’m not going anywhere or seeing anyone. And that is not because I am trying to be better than anyone else – I wear workout clothes 50% of the time too! – but really it’s because I’ve been working from home for almost four years now and over time, I’ve learned that I just feel more productive if I wake up and get dressed. Even though wearing pajamas all day feels good at the time, it always makes me feel crummy about myself in the end. With all this being said, the jeans have to be comfortable. I’m not crawling after Henning in skin tight skinnies {are you kidding me?} These wide leg crop jeans are incredible – they are loose enough to be extremely comfortable, but not so much so that they look sloppy. I love the white for spring, but they also come in a blue denim and black. I’m wearing a size 0 and I’m 5’10 for reference!
As for this top – I’m loving it for so many reasons. Most importantly, its comfortable and its machine washable – with Henning crawling and slobbering all over me these day, I need to be able to wear things I can easily toss into the wash. At first I wasn’t sure because of the sleeve detail, but it came out just as perfect as it went in {albeit without yogurt splattered all over it} so it’s definitely a keeper for me. Plus, I just love this turquoise color.
Lastly, these little sandals are slightly padded making them super comfortable too. I’ve worn them on several walks around the neighborhood and haven’t had any blisters! The metallic shine can elevate any outfit but more than anything, they just make me feel happy when I look down. It’s the little things these days right?!
Before I sign off, I want to check in with you guys! How are you doing? Is everyone feeling ok? I know I’ve definitely struggled feeling more anxious than normal {especially once Henning goes down for bed}. When my mind starts to race, and I don’t feel like I can calm down, I turn off the news and do something else. Whether thats reading, scrolling recipes on Instagram, or listening to a podcast, sometimes distraction is the best medicine. I’ve always really enjoyed going on walks. It’s amazing what some fresh air and sunshine can do for your mood. Yesterday, I popped in my earbuds, turned on a podcast, and went on a long walk with Henning. It was amazing! BTW – my favorite podcasts right now are ‘Absolutely Not’ by Heather McMahan and ‘How I Built This’ with Guy Raz. Have you listened to either? I’m obsessed! Yesterday I listened to the story of Steve Madden and how he got his start {did you know he went to prison for 31 months!?} Anyway, after 10 days of gloom and doom {it literally rained every day for over a week!} I needed some sunshine and it felt so dang good.
Look, I’m not trying to be a quarantine hero – I’m just trying to survive this all as best I can, but just trust me when I say these little things – like putting on an actual pair of pants, or shoes with a little shine – will go a very long way in lifting up your spirits in these uncertain times!
Let me know in the comments what you’re doing to keep your sanity and make you feel normal – I want to hear it! We’ve got to help each other out during this crazy time.
