The Coravin is a no-brainer for the wine lover in your life. With this tool, you don’t ever need to worry about finishing a bottle before it goes bad. The Coravin has a tiny needle that you insert into the cork of the wine bottle which allows you to pour one glass at a time. Once the needle is removed, the cork reseals itself, and the integrity of the wine is preserved. Also great if you like white wine, and your SO likes red – now you can have a glass of each without guilt! My husband and I have had our Coravin for over 6 years now and it is still one of our most used and appreciated kitchen gadgets.
Available via these retailers: Macy’s {currently 30% off} // Bloomingdale’s // Amazon // Neiman Marcus
The needle I’m showing you below is what pierces the cork. It is very sharp and only has a little hole at the bottom which allows the air out, and the wine in.
The gas capsule fits into the small black section of the coravin. You unscrew it, and insert it. Once you screw it back in, you should hear a little release. Thats the canister opening.
Open the clamp and place it around the neck of the wine bottle. Next, you press down on the top part of the coravin, inserting the needle into the cork {see below}
Next, you angle the bottle and the coravin over your wine glass and press down on the little silver lever at the top {where my thumb is in the image below}. This step inserts wine into the bottle, which then forces the wine out and into the glass. You should only have to click down on the silver lever 1x or 2x to get a full glass. Each gas canister should last for 15-20 pours. I rebuy my gas capsules here.
And there you have it! The easiest way to pour a single glass of wine without having to open the bottle {all while preserving the wine inside the bottle!} We absolutely love this gadget, and have used it more times than we can count over the years. Would make an excellent gift for the wine lover in your life!
