You guys. I live in Texas, and what better way to represent that fact than by owning a shirt with cactuses all over it!!! No, really. This shirt is equal parts kitschy and cute – and I’m loving every bit of it. It’s a super lightweight linen-y material, and somewhat sheer which I love. I paired it here with jeans because it was Feb when we shot these photos and therefore still a bit chilly in Dallas, but I can so so easily see myself wearing this top with jean cut off shorts at the ranch or thrown over a bathing suit at the pool. These sandals also come in several colors and if you’ve been following me on Instagram, you know I wear them all the time {I have both the brown & black versions!}

Y’all know I don’t wear a lot of color, but lately, I have been feelin red. Maybe it’s my fair skin & dark hair, or spring peeking from just around the corner, but something about bright red just feels right. #notquestioningit #youshouldnteither Especially since this dress is a lotta look for only $118. Also super excited that I finally get to introduce a bag I found in Indonesia on our honeymoon. I was so proud of this find when I stumbled upon it in Ubud – I think I paid $15 for it, and the lady thought I was crazy when I went back and bought 3 other styles {I checked an entire suitcases full of goodies I bought from her booth?} I loved the fun round shape, and lucky for you guys I found an almost identical version for you! {but not so lucky – whyyyyy does it have to be so expensive?!?} Last but not least, these sandals are ? and currently 20% off! I also own them in the black…..#justsayin

My husband and I spent this past weekend at a friends family ranch in South Texas and it was so incredibly beautiful down there! The topography is so different from Dallas that you almost can’t believe you’re still in Texas. We drove around in these old jeeps from the 90s and saw more wild animals than you can imagine.  It felt really good to get out of the city and enjoy the outdoors with friends {and a lot of wine :)}

If feels so crazy to be writing this, but at the end of the month, I will be moving to Switzerland! Yes…you read that correctly. I am moving across the world to enroll in school in Geneva to learn French for the next four months. whoa. Back up Bridget… What? Let me explain. As soon as I met my husband, Alexis, over 4 years ago, I immediately knew languages were a very important part of his life. His father is Swiss, and although Alexis grew up here in Dallas, his dad made sure he and his siblings learned French so that they could always feel connected to their european side – but also, {and perhaps most importantly} so they could communicate with their aunts, uncles, cousins and grandparents who still live in Switzerland to this day. French is such a huge part of my husbands life – he speaks it on a daily basis with his family, clients, and friends back in Switzerland. So, it is only natural that he wants the most important person in his life {#ifidosaysomyself} to be able to speak and understand the language as well.

I’ve always known I wanted to make the effort to learn French – not only for him, but also for myself, and for the benefit of our future children. Knowing multiple languages has opened so many doors for my husband and I’m hopeful it will do the same for me, and for our children one day. Not only that, but knowing multiple languages is just plain kick ass – I remember meeting Alexis and thinking it was so cool that he could easily switch from French, to Spanish, to English and back again. I was enamored with his capability, but also, to be honest, I was a little envious as well.  I wanted to be able to non chalantly speak another language like it was no big thang. But how? This feat is something easier said than done. Learning a language is tough. And to be totally honest, I don’t know if I’m self-disciplined enough to force myself to learn here in the states.  I knew that if I really wanted to learn, and I mean really wanted to learn, that I would have to move to a french speaking country and fully immerse myself.

So, fast forward a few years, and a few major life changes later {hellllooo, marriage}, and now finally feels like the right time for me to make the big move. Alexis and I don’t have children yet, and I am able to work from anywhere, so it makes making the move a little less challenging {although no less intimidating!}. In Geneva, I will be staying in their family home, and feel really excited to get to spend a little more quality time with the swiss side of his family. I feel so incredibly blessed to be given this opportunity to move across the world, explore new cities and countries, make a few friends, and hopefully learn a little french along the way 🙂 As for my husband? He’ll be staying behind in Dallas for work, but will be visiting me atleast once a month! As the next few weeks go by, and my suitcases continue to fill up, I promise to keep you all in the loop of all the exciting changes to come….stay tuned!

Last but not least, I’m really glad that this post gave me an opportunity to share with you guys one of my favorite travel accessories – my Away suitcases. These Celine sunnies were a splurge I made while visiting my best friend in San Francisco – I had forgotten my sunglasses at my sisters house in Palo Alto, and we just so happened upon this sunglasses store while strolling down Union St which had the most gorgeous selection of Celine sunglasses. I couldn’t help myself from picking this pair, and have pretty much worn them day in and day out since I’ve bought them! Now, lucky for you guys {and not so lucky for me} I found them for more than 50% less than what I paid for them here – so if you love them, snag them up! They may not last long.
