Every year my fiancé and his family travel to the South of France to spend their summers outside of Saint Tropez – his first trip over was when he was only 3 months old! For his parents, it was important for he and his siblings to learn french, and what better way than to learn playing with other french children on the beaches?
For the last few years I have been fortunate enough to travel with them, and this year I am lucky enough to go for several weeks as my work schedule allows! Preparing to make Saint Tropez home for a month took some planning, and when the girls over at Trunk Club reached out to schedule a style session, I knew it was perfect timing for my wardrobe to get a little refresh! If you aren’t familiar with Trunk Club, it is a personal styling service for both men {And now} women! With a recently launched women’s department, women can schedule a style session either in person – they have club houses in NY, LA, Chicago, DC and Dallas – or over the phone! Once you complete a style survey, Trunk Club connect you with a stylist who will find the best clothes for your size, style, and preferences. They’ll use this information to create your first trunk!
I was introduced to my stylist, Taylor, over the phone and we immediately hit it off. Instead of back-to-back questions about my style, Taylor and I just chatted {for over an hour!} about what I liked and disliked in terms of styles, colors and fit – and what my sizes were {we may or may not have spent a good amount of time discussing both our upcoming weddings, but that is neither here nor there :)} My main goal with working with Trunk Club was getting help adding a little color into my life – you may or may not have noticed that I tend to stick to the basics – black, white, navy, grey…..jeans, blouse-y tops, silk dresses, oversized everything…I wanted Taylor to take me out of my comfort zone, and add some fun pieces for the month I would spend in the South of France. We set up an in-person appointment, and Taylor promised she would have some exciting things for me to see {and try on!}
A week after our call, I walked into the Trunk Clubhouse and was blown away by the feel of the space. It was open and airy, super chic with exposed brick, lots of neutral colors, and a giant bar with a bartender {which had me all like #caniworkhere?!} Upstairs in our suite, there was a beautifully curated rack of clothing waiting for me and super cute Taylor who was just as sweet and fun in person as she sounded on the phone. I absolutely loved everything Taylor pulled for me — the off the shoulder eyelet top with the colorful silk shorts?! The bright red dress with the unique back details? The lace up gladiator flats….I could go on. We laughed, twirled, tucked, stared, and just had so much fun. I picked up a few amazing pieces after our session and can’t wait to wear them while in Saint Tropez!
Taylor was so great at finding pieces for me that I would have never picked for myself – or tried on. I loved that she was able to get me out of my comfort zone and force me into trying new things {coughcoughcolorcoughcough}
If you don’t live in a city with a Trunk Clubhouse – do not fret! You can have your very own stylist curate a trunk for you in the same way Taylor pulled items for me. The trunk will be sent through the mail, you can try on at home, and just decide to keep what you like! Everything else can be sent back with free shipping both ways. Also, if you need the extra guidance, your stylist is always there to jump on a call or even chat via text {Taylor and I still do this to this day!} and that’s really helpful if you don’t know how to wear a certain piece or style it up.
I highly recommend using Trunk Club if you’re like me and need to get out of your comfort zone, if you just need help curating your closet, OR if you need a specific outfit for an event {let’s say a bachelorette party? a baby shower? you name it, they can help!} It’s something anyone can use.
